Bangladeshi woman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the government will take Bangladesh towards a developed country by taking the women's society along with it. He said that in 2026, Bangladesh will finally become a developing country. We will go further. We are designing all our development programs keeping that in mind. We will move forward by involving women.
He said this when a delegation from the Council of Patrons of the Asian University of Women (AUW) went to meet him at the Prime Minister's office in Sangsad Bhavan today. The prime minister said that the main goal of his government is to ensure the overall development of the country including food, education and health care for all. In this regard, he asked the AWW delegation to develop such curriculum that will develop students as entrepreneurs and skilled human resources to face future challenges. He said, not just general education, provide education that will make them skilled, not jobless. The prime minister also mentioned that he has donated land for this university.
He said that women's education is essential for the development of any country. He briefly outlined various programs undertaken by his government. When the issue of Afghanistan came up in the meeting, the prime minister said that there is no opportunity to stop the education of women in the name of Islam. He also mentioned that Islam always talks about equal rights of men and women. In this context, the Prime Minister also mentioned that he himself faced strong opposition regarding women leadership when he joined politics.
Regarding Afghanistan, he also said that the current Afghan government is forcibly stopping women's education in that country. He said the whole world is witnessing it, no one is taking any action against it. Sheikh Hasina also mentioned that she has dedicated her life for the development of the country and people. On the Rohingya issue, the Prime Minister said that his government has provided education to Rohingya children in their own language.
