The role of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) in making accurate measurement and quality of Bangladeshi products world class is undeniable. BSTI has played a role in branding Bangladesh in the international market as well as ensuring quality products in the right measure for the consumers in the domestic market.


Tomorrow May 20, 2024 is World Metrology Day. BSTI's initiative in Rajshahi of various programs
going to be celebrated through This will be the 21st World Metrology Day. World Metrology Day is being celebrated every year to raise awareness about weights and measures across the world in a joint initiative of the two top international organizations of measurement - International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) and International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML).


On May 20, 1875, a clear and consistent measurement system was introduced worldwide through the agreement signed in the 'Meter Convention' held in Paris, France. Therefore, to commemorate this day, World Metrology Day is celebrated every year worldwide in the joint initiative of 'BIPM' and 'OIML'. Promotion and implementation of Legal and Scientific Metrology in Bangladesh as a member of 'BIPM' and 'OIML' As the sole regulatory body in charge, BSTI has been celebrating the day with due importance through various programmes. The main objective of World Metrology Day is to make people aware about the importance of accurate measurement in every aspect of human daily life.
Hon'ble President, Hon'ble Prime Minister, Industries Minister and Industries Secretary gave separate messages on the occasion of the day.
Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has taken up various programs on the occasion of the day. As a part of this, promotional activities including discussions and meetings have been taken up in BSTI's head office as well as divisional, regional and district offices. Arrangements have been made to broadcast special interview-based discussion programs on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar. Short Message Service (SMS) has been introduced to the subscriber's phone of various mobile operators.
Besides, banners, festoons and posters with slogans of World Metrology Day have been hung at various important places in all districts of this division including Rajshahi metropolis to publicize the day. The theme of this year's World Metrology Day is 'Measurement Today in Building a Sustainable Future'. To celebrate the day, a discussion meeting has been organized at the initiative of BSTI Divisional Office, Rajshahi at Atrafis Conference Room, Naodapara, Bypass Road, Sapura, Rajshahi on 20th May, 2024 AD, at 9:30 am. He will attend the discussion meeting as the chief guest
Civil Commissioner (Additional Secretary) of Rajshahi Division. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir. Mr. Masudur Rahman Rinku, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be present as a special guest. Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of Rajshahi University will be present as the main article presenter and expert guest. Md. Ariful Islam Nahid. The program will be presided over by BSTI Divisional Office, Rajshahi
Deputy Director (CM) and Head of Office Eng. Md. Saiful Islam.
Leaders of industrial and merchant associations, business organizations, various industrial entrepreneurs, journalists of electronic and print media and officials of government, private and autonomous organizations will be present on the occasion.
