Biman in recruitment scam: Captain Sajid sacked for giving job on fake certificate

Shahadat Hussain Riton:
Captain Sajid Ahmed has been removed from the post of Head of Training Department of Biman Bangladesh Airlines due to corruption in the recruitment process in Bangladesh Biman. From now on he will serve as a line pilot of Boeing-777. Biman issued an office order on March 9, 2023 in this regard on Thursday.
According to Bangladesh Biman sources, the aviation authority took this decision on Thursday based on several complaints against captain Sajid, abuse of power, giving immoral benefits to others including his wife Sadia Ahmed, ill-treatment and discrimination with the cockpit crew.
Earlier, a committee was formed under the leadership of Captain Siddiqur Rahman, director of flight operations of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, to investigate the allegations of irregularities in the recruitment of pilots. The other two members are Captain Inam Talukder, Head of Flight Safety Department and Deputy Chief of Training Tapas Ahmed. The committee was asked to submit its inquiry report within three working days. Then it was decided to remove Captain Sajid Ahmed from the post.
Incidentally, Biman Bangladesh Airlines hastily appointed 14 people as pilots in February 2022. In the last one year, the training and salary of these pilots cost several crores of rupees. Various complaints were raised including submission of fake certificates of multiple pilots, failure in licensing examination. In which Captain Sajid Ahmed was accused of being involved.
Among the recruited pilots, Sadia Islam is the wife of Biman's Chief of Training Captain Sajid Ahmed. It is alleged that Sajid's wife was appointed after his efforts. A recent investigation revealed that Sadia Islam had submitted fake educational certificates during recruitment. According to that fake certificate, he gave the HSC exam from science branch. According to the information received from the Dhaka Education Board, she has passed second division from Humanities stream from Shaheed Anwar Girls College. Not only that, the Airlines Transport Pilot License (ATPL) submitted by pilot Mehdi Al Islam was fake. Meanwhile, First Officer Al Mehdi Islam's contract has been cancelled.
Biman's MD and CEO Shafiul Azim told reporters about irregular recruitment and certificate forgery, it is a crime to enter or try to hide information. If someone conceals information and it is proved, action will be taken against him as per law. He told reporters that Biman Bangladesh Airlines has no chance to get away with irregularities.
