These groups and institutions were selling daily commodities like rice, ginger, flour, eggs, chicken, toiletries at exorbitant prices. The companies are - Pran, ACI, City, Akiz, Keya, Bashundhara, Square, Meghna, TK, Noor Jahan etc. The Competition Commission filed these cases under its own statutory powers last Thursday. A total of 44 cases have been filed.
According to the information provided by the commission, the chairman of Square Food and Beverage, chairman of ACI, chairman or MD of BRAC Seed and Agro Enterprises, chief executive officer (CEO) or MD of Pran Foods, MD of Citigroup of Industries, chairman and MD of Kaya Group are responsible for the 'instability' in the rice market. , MD of Bangladesh Unilever, MD of Kohinoor Chemical has been booked.

A case has been filed against Kazi Farms Group MD Kazi Jahedul Hasan, Saguna Food and Feeds Director, Alal Poultry and Fish Feed MD or CEO, Narish Poultry and Hatchery Director, Paragon Poultry MD and CP Bangladesh President for the unrest in the farm's chicken market. Several companies have also been sued for exorbitant prices of toiletries (soaps, perfumed soaps and powdered soaps).
